OUR HISTORY: Since 2015, Good Works Farm has provided a week-long summer day camp for individuals age five and older who live with a developmental disability and their typical siblings. Family participation is a significant component of camp as older siblings, parents, grandparents, aunts, and friends volunteer as group leaders, buddies, and in many other ways. Without the support of volunteers, the camp would not be possible.
Our camps, held on our beautiful 9-acre farm in Greene County provide opportunities to explore nature, spend time with new friends and old, strengthen family ties, and create memories that will last a lifetime.
Camp is held M-F between 9 AM-2 PM, and we often have special guests such as therapy dogs, costumed characters, and an ice cream truck.
Campers enjoy activities such as:
Animal care (rabbits, goats, chickens/chicks, pigs)
Art
Games
Gardening
Music
Woodworking
Campers are divided into groups of 8 campers each, divided by age. These groups rotate through stations throughout the day, each about a half-hour long.
Our camp costs is to be determined, and we accept Medicaid Waiver funding, county funding, grant funding, and private pay. We rely on camp funds for the year-long improvement and development of our non-profit, and have a limited number of camp sponsorships from businesses in the community, which will be disbursed contingent upon availability.
Camp brings families together
I loved camp and I loved the attitude everyone had towards the campers. Having a sister that is special needs can sometimes give you weird looks but at camp everyone was so devoted to the campers it was amazing. Thank you for all the effort you put into the campers and thanks for allowing me to help. -S
